HEL

Hel is death. She is the daughter of Loki.

Her face is deathly pale with dark blotches.

She lives in Shadow Home (Niflheim) where she rules over the dead from her hall of Sleet Fall.

In one myth, Hel agrees that Balder may return to the world of the living if everything will weep for him.  This story is told in ‘Balder’s Death’, Chapter 16 of
Viking Myths: Stories of the Norse Gods and Goddesses.
