Tyr and the wolf Fenrir

Viking Myths

TYR

Tyr is the one-handed god. In one myth, his right hand is bitten off by the wolf Fenrir.

In another myth, he travels with Thor to Etinhome to fetch back his father’s huge brewing kettle.

Tyrís day is Tuesday.

The story of how Tyr loses his hand is told in ‘Loki’s Children’, Chapter 7 of
Viking Myths: Stories of the Norse Gods and Goddesses.
